ANDBOX WELCOMES USAA AS A NEW PARTNER OF ITS CALL OF DUTY LEAGUE FRANCHISE THE NEW YORK SUBLINERS
Collaboration to Include an Exclusive Esports Program with the
United States Military Academy at West Point
New York, N.Y., July 8, 2021 — Andbox, New York’s flagship esports entertainment organization, today announced that USAA is now the Official Insurance and Military Appreciation Partner of its Call of Duty League franchise the New York Subliners (NYSL). Through this new multi-year agreement, USAA will become the first-ever partner of the NYSL to appear on both the team’s in-game and physical team kits that players wear while competing in Call of Duty League matches.
This relationship will also tap into the unique proximity that Andbox and the NYSL have to the storied United States Military Academy at West Point, just a short drive north of New York City. USAA and the NYSL will together introduce a new program that will have NYSL’s pro players and coaching staff, who are among the best in the world, practice and train with cadets who compete on behalf of Army West Point Esports in Call of Duty. No other Call of Duty League franchise will have this level of direct connection to a United States service academy.
“We’re very proud to be partnering with USAA to connect them with members of the military through the power of New York esports,” said Kai Mathey, Head of Partnerships at Andbox. “Together we will tap into the excitement of Call of Duty and the New York Subliners’ incredible players to bring the deep-felt appreciation we have for members of the military to life both through both in-person and digital experiences.”
“As we expand our presence in the Call of Duty League, working with teams like the NYSL will allow USAA to create unique experiences and benefits for the military gaming community,” said Harvey Chang, USAA lead marketing manager. “In addition to supporting all fans, helping to foster a greater working relationship between NYSL and West Point Esports will be a focus.”
Additional elements of this sponsorship include an array of unique digital content that will be developed for fans which will feature players from the NYSL, as well as online sweepstakes with exclusive prizes including consumer products and apparel. The first place fans will be able to experience this collaboration in action will be during this week’s NYSL Home Series, where USAA will provide fans with 1,000 NYSL Call of Duty League team packs.
