ANDBOX INTRODUCES NEW CALL OF DUTY LEAGUE TEAM – THE NEW YORK SUBLINERS
The New York Subliners Will Take Part In The Inaugural Season Of Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty League, Beginning in Early 2020
NEW YORK (October 21, 2019) – Andbox, a multi-franchise esports organization that represents New York in the world’s premier esports leagues, today unveiled the name and branding of The New York Subliners, New York City’s newest professional esports team and one of the twelve founding teams in Activision Blizzard’s newly formed Call of Duty League. The name and logo were announced to fans through a video from the organization, which can be viewed here.
The name “Subliners” is born from the grit and chaos of the underground. Like New York, the team is built from the ground up to be a movement that challenges the mainstream and the status quo. Inspired by the dazzle camouflage on warships, the team’s logo draws from bold contrasting colors and lines that intersect each other, with a stenciled wordmark as an urban interpretation of lettering stretching from war zones to construction zones.
In its inaugural season, the Subliners will be managed by coach John “Revan” Boble, analyst JohnPaul “JP Krez” Krez and player manager Adam “Adam” Eckel. In addition, the following players have been announced to join the Subliner’s roster for the 2020 season of the Call of Duty League:
- Thomas “ZooMaa” Paparatto – SMG
- Donovan “Temp” Laroda – SMG
- Lamar “Accuracy” Abedi – AR
- Trei “Zer0” Morris – AR
- Dillon “Attach” Price – Flex
- Doug “Censor” Martin – Sub
To celebrate this announcement, the team is hosting the Subliners New York Open, the first major tournament around the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare title. The tournament is sponsored by PlayStation, Astro, Scuf, Kontrolfreek and Elgato, and will have a $10K total prize pool. Competition starts on 11/1 and 11/2 with qualifier rounds, concluding with finals on 11/3 which will be streamed live on the Subliners’ Twitch channel. More information regarding the tournament and early access to registration can be found here.
